A Practice Built Around How Minds Actually Differ
Minds of All Kinds Psychology offers therapy and assessments for children, teens and adults across two Melbourne clinics and by telehealth. We work from a neuroaffirming, trauma-informed model — which in practice means starting with how someone’s brain works, not with what might be “wrong.”

How We Started
One psychologist, one room, January 2025
Minds of All Kinds Psychology was founded by Joanna, an Educational and Developmental Psychologist who’d spent years working across early intervention, youth justice and private practice. Each setting had a different mandate, but the same recurring problem: none of them let her practice in the neuroaffirming way she actually believed in. The models were built around compliance and deficit — not around understanding how someone’s mind actually worked.
In January 2025, she opened a single consulting room – but it didn’t stay small for long. Within a few months, the practice moved into a proper clinic in Heidelberg, and a small team began to grow around her.
Fairfield followed a year later, as a second clinic for families who’d been travelling further than they should have to. The team’s kept growing since — but the starting principle hasn’t moved: understand the mind in front of you before deciding what it needs.

Our Philosophy
What ‘Neuroaffirming’ Actually Means Here
Four commitments that shape every assessment and every session.
Difference, Not Deficit
ADHD, autism and other neurodivergence are treated as ways of being, not disorders to eliminate. Reports and treatment plans start with what’s working.
Trauma-Informed By Default
Pacing, consent and safety shape every session — nobody is pushed through material faster than they can actually process it.
Genuinely Collaborative
Parents, schools and other clinicians are looped in where it helps, with the client’s own say in how much and how often.
Plain Language, Always
No jargon in feedback sessions or reports unless it’s explained — because a report you can’t understand isn’t actually useful to you.
